My love affair with bakeries begins when I was 4 years old. In the steel city of Gary, Indiana, I can remember my mother taking my twin sister and I to a tiny pastry shop named ARTS Bakery. 
Whether after school or early on a Saturday morning, we loved going to ‘ARTS’ because of the cases filled with beautiful pastries, cookies, cupcakes, decorated cakes, and every flavor of DONUTS!!! I loved the chocolate iced cake donuts and the chocolate chip cookies the most! The aromatic smells were always sweet, warm, and comforting.
